Family Based Tarbiyyat (Moral
Training) Program
Under
this program, families must make a conscious effort in the following fields:
1.
Etiquette
and obligations of Salat
a.
All members of the
family must offer five daily prayers.
b.
As much as possible,
these prayers should be offered in congregation in the house.
c.
At least once a
week, prayers should be offered at the local prayer center. Prayer centers have
been established in Lynnwood, Redmond and Kent.
d.
Jumma prayers should not be skipped.
2.
Importance
of Financial Sacrifice
a.
Regularly pay the
obligatory chandas: Chanda Aam and Jalsa Salana.
If possible pay chandas on monthly basis.
b.
Children should be given pocket money and
encouraged to make financial sacrifice.
3.
Respect
for the Jamaat System
a.
Regularly watch MTA
with family.
b.
Never criticize the jamaat in front of children.
4.
Modesty
and chastity
a.
Both young boys and
girls should be made to wear modest clothes to school.
b.
Adolescent girls
should be encouraged to wear scarves.
c.
Children should not
be encouraged to make friends with the opposite sex.
5.
Internet
Challenges
a.
Monitor what children
are doing on the Internet.
b.
Internet Software allows
parents to control and lock obscene Internet sites. Make an effort to understand and use these
features.
c.
Encourage other
activities like games and exercise over spending time on the Internet for fun.
6.
Family
Values
a.
Parents should
respect each other, respect their parents and other
relations so that the children will learn to respect everyone too.
b.
Always treat
children with respect.
7.
Peer
Pressure
a.
As much as possible,
children should not be allowed to choose their own friends. Parents should
choose well behaved children as their friends.
b.
Parents should send their children to participate
in Jamaat events where the children can learn Islamic
values.
